During the early 1800s Eisen made more than forty woodblock prints of flowers and (or) birds. Ten examples are shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Eisen’s drawing style was similar to his more famous contemporaries (e.g., Hiroshige Utagawa and Hokusai Katsushika). Flowers and birds were drawn only semi-accurately, presumably to increase the appeal of flower-bird prints to potential purchasers seeking an inexpensive source of visual entertainment.
